Vancouver Westside

The westside of Vancouver is the area west of Main Street just south of the main Downtown Business District. It is bordered on the South by the Fraser River, to the East by the Eastside of Vancouver, to the North by the Granville Island/False Creek area and to the West by the Straight of Georgia.

The Westside includes the following neighbourhoods:

Arbutus Ridge, Cambie, Dunbar-Southlands, Fairview, Granville Island/False Creek, Kerrisdale, Kitsilano, Marpole, Mount Pleasant, Oakridge, Shaughnessy, West Point Grey, and University of British Columbia (UBC).

The westside is primarily a residential area with almost no hotels. Primary shopping areas of the Westside are Granville Island (under Granville Bridge,) the South Granville Rise (Fairview neighbourhood) shopping district from the South end of the Granville Bridge south to 16th Avenue, 4th Avenue in Kitsilano, the Kerrisdale shopping area including 41st Avenue and West Boulevard, the Marpole shopping area from 63rd and Granville south to 72nd Avenue, the Arbutus Mall at 29th and Arbutus and the Dunbar shopping area from 16th and Dunbar south to 41st Avenue. In addition, some of the best beaches are located in the Westside and UBC area, for example, English Bay Beach, Jericho Beach, Kitsilano Beach, Lacarno Beach and Spanish Banks.
